Photo # 5 --"June Bug"  Glenn H. Curtiss won the Scientific American trophy at Hammondsport, N.Y. July 4, 1908, flying five-eights of a mile.  
In December 1908 at Lake Leuka, N.Y. this plane was transformed into a water aeroplane and tried out with the name "The Loon."
