Victor Maene worked as a mechanic for the U.S. Air Mail Service from 1/21/19 to 2/29/20.  An article in Aerial Age Weekly of January 12, 1920 discusses his being abroad with Capt. Walter Stevens as he piloted a Martin bomber out of College Park Airfield in a huge snowstorm carrying over 1000 lbs. of mail.  Mechanics often flew on such a journey, if needed.

The U.S. Air Mail Service also flew Curtiss R4 and DeHavilland DH-4s from the College Park Airfield.  The photo here shows Victor Maene standing on the wing of the plane at College Park on a Curtiss R-4.
